Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query under its own terms. We do not keep a local log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain a message sent directly to us for the time needed to respond and manage the exchange. It is not shared outside the organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics logs can record technical details when a page loads:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help show how visitors move through the site. Analytics services combine that traffic data so we can understand use and performance. Browser controls can block cookies, although some functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Finding and correcting technical problems
- Operating the website and improving load speed
- Sending a query to the provider selected by the search tool
- Measuring which pages are useful and where navigation can improve
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Dyer County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Dyer County Sheriff, court clerks, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention rules, and sharing practices govern data entered there. Review the provider's policy before sending a query because this policy does not control that processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Dyer County Sheriff, court resources, Tennessee agencies, legal resources, or outside search providers. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal data.
Advertising services may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not control that outside tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information can be processed by:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Standard administrative and technical measures are used to protect collected data. No internet system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
This service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A verified report that a minor supplied data will be addressed by removing it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with the law that applies to a visitor. The Tennessee Public Records Act, including TCA §§10-7-503 and 10-7-504, governs access to government records and statutory confidentiality exceptions. It does not turn this private website into a government record office. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this policy as practices or legal duties change. The current version and its effective date will appear here.
